Getting under the surface of Wilo submersible pumps…..
Drinking water is expensive and valuable – but with the help of a well and powerful Wilo submersible pumps, it is now easy for private users to go off-grid and use ground water from their own gardens. WILO UK has a range of different submersible pumps for residential buildings – the Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS-E-CP and Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS that can pump untreated water efficiently and reliably, even from great depths. The low-pressure version of the high-efficiency Wilo-Sub TWU 4-GT pump is especially suited to making use of geothermal ground water near the surface, for use in open loop ground source heat pump installations.
Four pumps for any need
To extract water from your own property, it is often enough to simply drill a borehole – perfect for irrigating larger areas or for supplying domestic water, for example. The four relevant models – Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS E-CP, Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS-I, Wilo-Sub TWU 4 and Wilo-Sub TWU 4-GT – can be used in private homes either to pump pure water without any fibrous constituents or to pump rainwater, process water, cold water and cooling water. But buildings such as remote farmhouses that are not connected to the public water mains can also benefit from an independent, self-sufficient supply using these pumps.
Corrosion-resistant and low-wearing
In day-to-day use, Wilo submersible pumps stand out thanks to their powerful motors and especially durable materials. All the models can be installed either vertically or horizontally and come in a wide range of capacities: 2, 4, 8 or 16 cubic metres per hour. When it comes to the design, Wilo places great value on high-quality. Thanks to their floating impellers, the pumps are particularly low-wearing and resistant to solid material. In addition, Wilo produces all the elements that come into contact with water – both in the pump housing and the motor housing – in stainless steel. The pre-mounted pumps also have a built-in non-return valve and, depending on the electrical version, a switchbox and motor protection. Connection cables certified for use with drinking water are also included as standard.
For domestic water supply: Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS
The Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS submersible pump with a re-windable motor, has a rated power ranging from 0.37 to 1.1 kilowatts. With high rotation speeds of up to 8,400 revolutions per minute, the pump reaches a maximum volume flow of up to 6.5 cubic metres per hour. The maximum delivery head is 130 metres. With this technical data, it is also perfect as a replacement pump for boreholes that have become encrusted. The model is available in two versions, making it suitable for a variety of applications, firstly, for direct connection to the AC mains supply and a fixed speed as the Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS-I with built-in frequency converter in the motor, or secondly, as the Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS-E-CP with an externally installed frequency converter in the pipe. Thermal motor protection protects the pumps against damage caused by overloading. The Wilo-Sub TWU 3 HS-E-CP also includes additional features, such as leakage monitoring to avoid high switching cycles, the “CP” control function for ensuring constant pressure regardless of the volume flow and dry-running protection with an automatic reset. The pumps can have a maximum immersion depth of up to 150 metres.
More power: Wilo-Sub TWU 4
The Wilo-Sub TWU 4 submersible pump is ideal for supplying water from particularly deep boreholes and rainwater storage tanks. Up to 320 metre delivery heads are no problem for this powerful pump. In addition, it can also be used for pressure boosting or lowering the water level. The pump achieves a maximum volume flow of up to 25 cubic metres per hour with the help of an impressive rated power of 0.25 to 5.5 kilowatts, in either AC or three-phase versions, depending on the performance requirements. The maximum approved immersion depth is 200 metres. The Wilo-Sub TWU 4 is available in the standard version or a Quick-Connect version for speedy electrical connection.
Ideal for near-surface geothermal energy: Wilo-Sub TWU 4 GT combined with water/water-heat pumps
The Wilo-Sub TWU 4 GT series provides an energy-optimised pump variant for using geothermal water near the surface. To ensure the best possible system efficiency in single or multi-occupancy houses, the motor power of this low-level version of the demand-optimised submersible pump has been reduced to an energy-saving 250 watts. This way, the highly efficient heat pump system achieves up to 16 percent improvement in the annual performance factor. The pump’s nominal duty point ranges from about 2 to 4 cubic metres per hour. By using high-quality, tried-and-tested components, Wilo guarantees that the pump has excellent operational reliability and is also impervious to any solid materials or sand in the water.
